Workers’ Memorial Day 2012

29 03 2012

Come and show your support for Workers’ Memorial Day on Saturday 28th April, in Hanley town centre. In 2012 the TUC is calling on unions, trades councils and all communities to make 28th April a day of action to raise awareness of, and to fight, the Tory attacks on health and saftey for our sake and for that of future generations. This government wants to dismantle Britain’s health and safety laws, believing that they are a burden on business. We need to show them that, as workers, we will not let this happen to us.

Supporters should meet at the CWU offices (Lindsay Street, Hanley, ST1 4EP) at 11.15 (as there is parking there) for a 11.30 start with banners, flags and good spirits and then walk to the nearby City Museum for a small memorial ceremony, speakers and the presentation of a wreath at the tree previously planted to commemorate Workers’ Memorial Day. A minute of silence will take place at noon, followed by speakers.

We’ll update this blog as details are confirmed.
